Also, you can find chicken starter feed at any farm or pet shop. If you can’t find any, you can use instant oatmeal, whole grain cereals or flaked infant cereals. Any of these will do the job. Use your house blender to get it churned. Note: don’t make powder or paste; leave some grains in it cause your chicks have to get used on eating grains.
Make sure that chicks have their food at all times cause they need their tummies full. They won’t over eat. Instead, they will eat as much as they need to. Get food and feeder before buying chickens as it will save you lots of nervs.
You should clean their box at least once every day. This will ensure that they get warm and rested. Line their box with dry leaves or sawdust. Don’t use Styrofoam as little chicks tend to nibble it and it can get them ill.
You can buy chicken boxes at your local shop or at local pet store. You can even buy them online! If you don’t prefer buying them, you can easily build them. Just use any wooden or card boar box. Put red light bulb with wire mesh on top so it keeps little chicks warm. You can even make little holes on sides so they can breathe more freely.
Use dry leaves, sawdust or shredded paper to line their box. It will make them cozy, safe and make them wanna play inside. Also, dry leaves will absorb most of the poop, so you won’t have to clean their box that often.
